We are building the largest vehicle subscription and financial services platform for commercial drivers and transport operators across Africa. Our proprietary technology is enabling Drivers with no banking history to access low to zero-emission vehicles, insurance, digital wallets and e-hailing services on a subscription basis. From 2019 to 2020, we scaled from 200 to more than 10,000 drivers and have raised more than $40m to achieve our mission. Our goal is to serve 14 million gig drivers across Africa’s $250B mobility industry. In the short term, we are scaling our impact to 100,000 drivers across 10 cities in 3 countries.

Job Overview:
The Telematics Success Manager is responsible for ensuring the successful implementation, management, and optimization of telematics systems across fleet and other Asset types within the business. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, project management skills, and customer service acumen to maximize the efficiency, safety, and cost-effectiveness of Telematics operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Telematics System Implementation:
- Oversee the installation and integration of telematics hardware and software across the fleet & All Asset types.
- Collaborate with Technology and operations teams to ensure seamless integration with existing systems.
- Ensure 100% compliance with Telematics processes and systems across all MAX Locations
Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Analyze telematics data to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Prepare and present detailed reports on fleet performance metrics, including fuel consumption, State of Charge, Uptime Availability, route efficiency, and driver behavior.
Performance Monitoring:
- Continuously monitor telematics data to ensure optimal Asset performance.
- Identify and address any issues or anomalies in real-time.
Training and Support:
- Provide training and support to drivers and fleet managers on the use of telematics systems.
- Develop and maintain user manuals, training materials, and best practice guides.
Stakeholder Communication:
- Act as the primary point of contact for telematics vendors and service providers.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure alignment of telematics initiatives with broader business goals.
Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards related to telematics and fleet operations.
- Promote a culture of safety through the use of telematics data to improve driver behavior and reduce accidents.
Continuous Improvement:
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the functionality and utilization of telematics systems.
- Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to keep the fleet at the forefront of innovation.
Technical Competencies
- Understanding of IoT system architecture, including sensors, edge devices, gateways, and cloud-based platforms.
- Familiarity with communication protocols used in IoT, such as MQTT, CoAP
- Expertise in integrating and configuring IoT sensors for real-time data collection in fleet management contexts.
- Knowledge of telemetry data types, including temperature, humidity, speed, acceleration, and vehicle diagnostics.
- Proficiency in using IoT platforms for device management, data processing, and analytics (e.g., AWS IoT, Azure IoT Hub).
- Ability to manage large-scale IoT deployments, including device provisioning, firmware updates, and security management.
- Knowledge of IoT security best practices, including data encryption, secure device authentication, and threat detection.
- Knowledge of EV powertrains, battery management systems (BMS), and charging infrastructure.
- Familiarity with EV-specific telemetry data, such as battery health, state of charge (SoC), energy consumption, and regenerative braking metrics.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, Logistics, or a related field.
- Proven experience in fleet management, telematics, or a related role.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in telematics software and tools.
- Knowledge of fleet safety and compliance standards.
